Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra moved to Deoghar, located in Jharkhand (then Bihar), India, from Himaitpur, Pabna (now in Bangladesh) in September 1946, deciding all on a sudden, owing to unsound health, accepting the advice of physicians. His family, a number of His followers and devotees accompanied, - some with Him, others later, gradually, in the following weeks and months. The partition-scarred independence of India saw the formation of East Pakistan encompassing a large chunk of eastern Bengal. The situation rapidly turned to impossible for the return of Thakur to his native place.
Despite the political disquiet and social turmoil, the Ideal-centric activities continued at Pabna Ashram. But as it became increasingly difficult, unsafe and nearly impossible for the adherents of Thakur living in and around the ashram to live and continue with the work with honour, against continuous mischief and manhandling by religiously intolerant and antisocial elements, a large number of adherents decided to migrate to Deoghar and take recourse at the feet of their Lord, who not only sheltered but also rehabilitated them , all this without taking any assistance from the government or anyone else. The ashram at Pabna along with the property was acquired gradually in phases by the then government of Pakistan and the minuscule compensation offered to Satsang was politely turned down by Thakur. Not all the followers of Thakur who were spread over different parts of the severed land moved over to India. They stayed there and despite an environment which was not exactly conducive and encouraging, Ideal-centric activity went on in personal as well as collective measures, even if diminutively.
As the entire ashram property was requisitioned by the government, it was impossible to carry on any function there anymore. In accordance with the wishes of Thakur, Pakutia, a remote rural place then, in the Tangail district (previously Mymensingh dist.), the organizational affairs were shifted. Till this date, Pakutia is functioning as the official headquarters of Satsang activities there. The creation of 'Bangladesh' breaking away from Pakistan followed and 'Satsang Bangladesh' having spread its activities even in the remote recesses of the nation and despite having a separate identity as an organisation in a different country, remains integrated with 'Satsang Deoghar' through emotional, spiritual and philosophical attachment, allegiance and adherence to Sree Sree Thakur, and in His physical absence to the living representative of Him. He, the Pradhan Acharya, remains the paramount head of Satsang in all its matters-- a bond that defies barriers.
Apart from India, countries where the adherents of Thakur have multiplied and remained active in spreading the perennial messages of 'life and growth', Bangladesh and Nepal have been at the forefront. At different places in these countries, Satsang centres have been established. Activities have also been started in Bhutan. Satsang movement had been spread in Burma (now Myanmar) decades back, even before the independence of India. There had been a centre established in Rangoon (now Yangon) long back, even before the world war-II, which is still run by the devotees there. Thakur’s divine philosophy of 'being and becoming' has reached different parts of the world through His adherents. Satsang movement has flourished in the USA and Canada, the UK & different nations of Europe, the UAE & other countries of Middle East, Singapore, Malaysia & other Southeast Asian countries; Japan, Africa, Australia, etc. and has been appreciated and accepted by the people from different walks, culture, caste, creed, religious faith, nationality and all other varieties and diversities across the globe, who are spontaneously accepting this universal and unique way of life conceived by Sree Sree Thakur.
